IMPROVE YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACCESS COMPRHENSIVE SEXUALITY EDUCATION (CSE)
Project Summary
Even the inclusion of CSE in school curriculum, there has been lack of learning and teaching environment of CSE in schools. It is due to the inadequate contents and quality of CSE, the untrained teachers, lack of reference materials, taboo and hesitation. Besides, there has been significant dropout in secondary schools. As a result, there are large mass of young people out of school. The project aims to increase learning and teaching environment in schools and also aims to cover the out of school young people. The project develops a cadre of trained peer educators who will be responsible to provide CSE to both schools going and out of school young people. The respective District Branch authorities will establish coordination with school authorities and community-based organizations.
Target population were approximately 30,000 young people of in school and non-formal setting (out of school young people).
Project Location
The project covers three districts Kathmandu, Kavre and Makawanpur.
Objective of the Project
General objective of the project is to improve young people’s access to comprehensive sexuality education both in formal and non-formal settings.
The specific objectives are as follows:
- To enhance skills and knowledge of peer educators, school teachers and staff on updated versions of comprehensive sexuality education.
- To support for teaching and learning environment in schools for updated versions of comprehensive sexuality education.
- To deliver comprehensive sexuality education both in formal and non-formal setting.

- ToT on life skill based CSE to Peer Educator
- CSE sessions for school students
- CSE sessions for out of school young people
- Orientation to school teacher on CSE
- Street Drama
- Celebration of International youth day
- Sensitization to community people and parents of youth
- Development of IEC/BCC material related to CSE
- Coordination meeting with CSOs/CEHRD/EDCU
- Review/Dissemination Program
